Every smartphone with a decent camera should have a dedicated, tactile shutter button. It would make taking photos faster, easier, and simply more enjoyable.
Press once to open the camera. Press again to take the picture. That’s it.
Touchscreens are great for many things, but they can’t replace the simple satisfaction of a real button — especially when you’re trying to capture a fleeting moment.
And while we’re at it, every “pro” phone with advanced photography features should also include a physical shutter speed and aperture dial. Small details like these would appeal to serious photographers who still value the feel of manual control.
These buttons and dials could even be programmable, so apps can use them in different ways.
It wouldn’t hurt modern phones to have a few physical controls again. Sometimes, a button just works better.
